Having a Winter Wedding? Here’s 5 Beauty Tips to Keep you Covered

The slight drop in temperature with a pleasant breeze blowing through your hair; the arrival of winters have already descended upon us. With the light woolens slowly making their way from our boxed-up cardboards into our everyday wear, we have another massive eventful time entering into our lives. “Winter weddings” are a time of fun, frolic, and festivities packaged into a full-fledged week of food, glamour, and beauty. If you are one of those people who have already begun their preparations in full swing for a chilly winter wedding then we have the perfect tip for you. From managing those dry chapped lips to the last-minute dandruff itches today, we list down 5 hacks, tips, and tricks that will get you “Shaadi” ready in a jiffy. Let’s dive right in!

1. Moisturize to the Fullest

Moisturize to the fullest

Moisturizing is one of the key elements to achieving glowing, soft, and supple skin which is free from dullness, dehydration, and itchiness. Winter weddings require a super hydrating and boosting skincare routine which ultimately leads to a flawless makeup base and application on D-Day. Include plenty of water and minerals in your diet. Follow it up with serums like Vitamin – C, and Retinol. For all our DIY-loving brides, mix some dried orange peels with a pinch of turmeric and raw milk. Keep it on for 15-20 minutes and wash it off in the shower. This adds a beautiful glow to the skin while restoring moisture. Don’t forget to inform your makeup artist in advance regarding your skin type in order to put your best foot forward on your wedding day.

 2. Opt for a Deep Cleansing Scalp Treatment

Opt for a deep cleansing scalp treatment

Winters bring with it a serious problem of dandruff. Our regular shampoos aren’t well equipped to handle this issue which leads to a dry itchy scalp with dandruff returning overnight or not getting removed properly in the first place. This can cause hair fall, brittle locks, rough and dry split ends, and a host of other issues. It is best recommended that a thorough deep cleansing scalp treatment is done 2-3 days prior to the ceremonies. If going the quick DIY route, cut a lemon in half and rub it on the scalp. Keep it on for 10-15 minutes and rinse it off with a dandruff clearing shampoo and conditioner.

3. Exfoliate Your Lips

Exfoliate Your Lips

Our pout is one of the key features that gets highlighted in a wedding makeup look. Winters are a time when our lips need some extra love care and attention. Dry, flaky, and peeling lips are an absolute “no-no” as lipstick application on them will further crack and dry them out. It is important to follow some basic tips and tricks leading up to D-Day. If you have a serious habit of licking your lips then you need to stop it right there. Apply a nice thick coat of coconut oil/ lip balm/ lip sleeping mask to soften them. A honey and sugar scrub is also excellent for a DIY option. Another quick hack is to brush gently over the dead skin cells with a baby toothbrush.

 4. Don’t Forget Your Sunscreen

Don’t Forget Your Sunscreen

From a full-blown Haldi/Mehendi to walking down the aisle under a gorgeous “phoolon ka chadar” everyday wedding function requires some skin prep beforehand. In order to avoid damage from the harmful UV rays don’t forget to apply an even layer of sunscreen on the exposed areas of your face and body. If you are doing the day makeup by yourself, then look for products that already have SPF included in it. This will prevent uneven skin tone, patches, and texture for the upcoming evening festivities.

5. Soak your Foot to avoid Cracked Heels

Soak your foot to avoid cracked heels

Don’t want your wedding celebrations and dance numbers to be dampened from the pain of wearing sky-high stilettoes over your cracked heels? We have got the perfect solution to your problem. Soak your foot in some warm saline water, and gently rub over the dead skin cells with a pumice stone. Dry off your feet and apply a layer of emollient or occlusive moisturizer and wear 100% pure cotton socks to bed. This simple trick will give you soft, supple, and “dance-ready” heels overnight.

Winter weddings can be a little tricky to deal with.  The right amount of preparation and getting ready beforehand can avoid such small “oops” moments. We hope you will glow and dance the night away like a “pataka” in its full glory. Zoylee wishes all its readers and brides to be, a very happy and joyous wedding season.
