Running Late? Here’s How to Pull off a Look in 15 Minutes

Running late? Here's how to pull off a look in 15 minutes.

Did you just look at your alarm clock and get a mini panic attack? Have you hit the snooze button a bit too many times and now you’re running around the room like a headless chicken? Have you simply overslept before that important presentation after an eventful wild night out with your girlfriends? Whatever might be the reason, running late for work, school or an event can be extremely stressful.

To calm down your nerves and pull yourself together quickly, we have put together some highly effective tips, tricks, and hacks that will help you get ready in less than 15 minutes.

Gaining some composure when you are already freaking out might seem like an impossible task to achieve. However, this simple act can already win half of the battle. Try closing your eyes and taking a few deep breaths before rushing in to get ready. This little hack will automatically trick your brain into calming down your nerves for some time.

Instead of making things worse by constantly checking your clock after every minute; try setting a stopwatch for 15 minutes. This will automatically make the process of getting ready much smoother. Let’s take a look at some effective tips which will help you to put together a well-groomed look in under 15 minutes.

1. Always have a “Go-To” Makeup Look

Always have a “Go-To” Makeup Look

Instead of scurrying through your makeup kit in the morning, always have a simplified makeup look handy for emergencies. Ditch that elaborate wing liner and cut crease eyeshadow when you are running late and stick to the basics. Even out your skin with a tinted moisturizer or BB cream, apply a cheek and lip tint with a coat of mascara, and voila!

Your makeup is all done in less than 5 minutes. In case of any acne scars or breakouts try spot correcting with a little bit of concealer which has a yellow undertone. Skip the bright, heavy concealers as it takes a longer time to blend and set in place.

“Go-To” makeup includes multi-purpose products which will cut down on your time and help you get ready in a much lesser time. Splash your face with some cold water and hydrate to the fullest. Drink plenty of fresh juices to wake your dull and tired skin from the previous night. This will also ensure a fresher and smoother makeup application on your face in the morning.

2. Go for a Trusted Messy Bun/Braid

Go for a Trusted Messy Bun/Braid

Waking up with a head full of dry, brittle, and tangled hair is absolutely imaginable in a “running late” situation, and what better way to combat this issue than a trusted messy bun. Start off by combing your hair to remove all the knots and tangles. If you are really running out of time and don’t have the time to shower and blow-dry; then opt for a hair serum to smoothen out the frizz. Similarly, if you have an oily scalp, opt for a dry shampoo. Spray it on your roots and massage it well to remove any white cast. A classic trusted messy bun/braid is your ultimate savior in rush hours. Pull up your hair and leave a few strands in the front to shape your face. This will effortlessly put together your hair within minutes. If opting for a braid, the only product that you might require is a hair tie. If you fail to find one in a rush, then wrap around a small section of your hair and pin it down with some bobby pins. This little hack will prevent you from creating a mess out of your makeup kit in the morning.

3. Combat those Under-Eye Circles

Although you might have overslept, your eyes can become puffy, red, and irritated if you haven’t had enough sleep. If you are someone who already suffers from dark under-eye circles, then a Yellow color corrector/concealer might come in handy. Always carry one in your pouch in order to touch upon the go. Go for a lighter formulation instead of a heavy one that can easily blend into your skin with the help of your fingers. This will eliminate the requirement for makeup brushes. In case of tired & puffy eyes, rub on some ice cubes gently to reduce the appearance of discoloration and swelling. This in turn will give them a well-rested look.

4. Stick to Basic and Classic Outfits

If you are running late and have had an overflow of food, drinks, and events the night before, then it is always wise to go for a classic, comfortable fit. Skip the fancy and body-hugging garments for a separate occasion and stick to the basics. Breathable fabrics with a looser fit might make you feel more comfortable in your own skin. This will also save your time of standing in front of the cupboard in a frazzled state, thinking “I have nothing to wear.” A pair of Blue denim and White/Black t-shirt is always the easiest ensembles to pull out of your cupboard while running to work. Another alternative can be a basic cotton, Kurti. Skip the elaborate accessories and stick to a classic watch in order to get dressed up as quickly as possible.

5. Keep a Mini Lipstick and Perfume in Your Purse

Always keep dark lipstick and a mini perfume inside your bag. One swipe of this bold color will elevate your entire look in minutes even if you have rushed out of your house in a hurry without doing much to your face. This gives the illusion of you have put in a lot of effort in your entire look even if you necessarily haven’t. A mini perfume is always a safe option to keep in your purse to smell good and spritz on the go. Opt for lighter fragrances with hints of citrus and florals and skip the heavy, musky ones. This will freshen you up in an instant.

We hope that these little hacks will come in handy the next time you decide to rush out of your home while running late. Do let us know which one of these tips is your favorite.
